A Simple Guide To Simple Syrup

How do you make simple syrup? We know that simple syrup is a pivotal building block in many cocktails that we go over in our cocktail blog posts. We also know that it is not entirely clear in our blogs  how to make some of those syrups. So we wanted to give some clarity and provide some insights on the process.  Why not just buy simple syrup from the grocery store?  Sure, you could get by purchasing a pre-bottled simple syrup but that does not necessarily give you full creative control of the syrup. Cocktail Chronicles 014: Brown Derby

Although the Brown Derby is a fairly easy cocktail to create, as it only features three ingredients, it does have a robust combination of flavors and ingredients. This three ingredient cocktail uses honey syrup to perfectly harmonize the spice found in bourbon and the tart citrus of grapefruit.

Cocktail Chronicles 012: New York Sour

The New York Sour combines many of our favorite things in cocktailing. We have been captivated by cocktails that have foam such as the Clover Club and also by cocktails that involve a liquor float of some kind such as the Dark N’ Stormy. Naturally then, we fell in love with the New York sour as one variation of this cocktail features both of these.

Cocktail Chronicles 011: Espresso Martini

The Espresso Martini was created by famous London bartender Dick Bradshell in the late 80’s.There is some speculation about who exactly made the request of Mr. Bradshell; however, the request was for him to make a cocktail that would “wake me up and then fuck me up.” And we must say, the Espresso Martini more than fulfills this request!
