Cocktail Chronicles 012: New York Sour

New York Sour in an amehla co. Honeycomb Nick and Nora cocktail glass.

The New York Sour combines many of our favorite things in cocktailing. We have been captivated by cocktails that have foam such as the Clover Club and also by cocktails that involve a liquor float of some kind such as the Dark N’ Stormy. Naturally then, we fell in love with the New York sour as one variation of this cocktail features both of these.

We decided to try two different variations of this cocktail. One version served on the rocks without egg white and one version served ‘up’ with egg white. Whichever version that you end up preferring, we think that you cannot go wrong with the New York Sour.

Additionally, if you are looking for a cocktail to impress at your next cocktail happy hour via Zoom or within your bubble, this one is sure to do that but also remain relatively easy to create.

Lemon and whiskey being poured in cocktail tins in preparation to make a New York sour

The New York Sour is essentially a whiskey sour; however, with one key addition. That is, the New York Sour includes a red wine float on top of it.
